Consumers Report Defective Tie Rods in 1997 - 2003
Ford Pickup Trucks and SUV's.
We have received reports that steering tie rod ends on 1997 - 2003 Ford light duty pickups and SUV's are wearing prematurely with some mechanics are reporting a failure rate as high as 2:1. Additionally, some consumer advocates are reporting that the tie rods can separate in some cases, leading to a sudden loss of control.
The vehicles that are potentially affected by premature tire rod wear or failure include:
- 1997 - 2003 Ford F150 (Light Duty)
- 1997 - 2003 Ford F250 (Light Duty)
- 1997 - 2002 Ford Expedition
- 1998 - 2002 Lincoln Navigator
- 2002 Lincoln Blackwood
A potential class action is being investigated for the tie rod failures.
